Eight...
by Greg
Hi Stan, A funny coincidence. I was just reading Graham Hancock's book "Talisman" today (page 305). He mentions the Egyptian obelisk (brought from ancient Heliopolis) at the Vatican which is surrounded by an ellipse divided into eight equal geometric parts - a hieroglyph meaning "City"...
Other interesting "Eight" relationships:
Eight phases of the Moon
Musical Octave
The Octagons geometry is based on the Square Root of 2 (like the Square) - 1.414 is a very important ratio in the Markets, especially when working with Geometry, squared-charts and "Gann"-style analysis.
The Hull Average uses the Sq. Rt.2 for data smoothing. Also, it's a very important component in the Ocean Software from Jim Sloman (of Delta fame),
The Periodic Table of the Elements,
Stable Atoms are composed of Eight Electrons in their outermost orbit,
Cell division (Mitosis) occurs in Eight stages,
The I Ching is based on an Eightfold structure,
Seems like ongoing cyclic processes involving Polarity or doubling have a certain "Eightness" about them...
Thanks for your stimulating ideas and research!
Greg
Stan's response: And I thank you Greg for such interesting observations and contributions. My head is spinning off into some interesting new directions now.
